"Serious Game Boat - Serious Yanmar Power"
"We love fishing so much that we moved up from an outboard powered
trailer boat to this magnificent Sambuca, a Caribbean 28. The boat
was purchased new in 1999, but before the final order was placed we
researched our engine options.
When it came to engine selection the name that kept coming up all
the time was Yanmar. All the comments from boaties were very
positive;
no-one had a bad thing to say about them.
The more that we looked into the Yanmar brand the more we liked
them. Yanmars are safe, deliver great performance, are highly fuel
efficient and quiet. We wanted the best for our dream fishing
machine and Yanmar seemed to be the best brand of engine on the
market.
Now four years later, the dual Yanmar 4LHA-DTE series of shaft drive
engines have logged up 940 hours each and we couldn't be happier.
We've had to do nothing more routine than have the engines serviced
every 150 hours . they run like clockwork.
We're seriously into game fishing. From our home base at Manly on
Moreton Bay, we run up to two hours to get to the fishing grounds
30Nmi offshore, troll up and down at 6 knots for hours on end then
make the run back home again. Sambuca competes at game tournaments
everywhere from Mooloolaba to the Gold Coast and all points
in-between.
Fuel consumption is an important issue with us as we log up big
hours at sea. At an average of 12.5 litres per hour per engine, the
fuel usage is unbelievably efficient. With 600 litres of fuel on
board, we've got 24 hours of running in the tanks.
At wide open throttle Sambuca hits 27 knots (3300 rpm), but we
cruise comfortably at 20 knots (2800 rpm) and troll at 6 to 8 knots.
If necessary we can idle down to 4 knots.
For low noise, stunning performance and low fuel economy, our Yanmar
diesels have certainly exceeded all our expectations. We would
happily buy Yanmar again - in fact we wouldn't even look at anything
else for our next game boat."
