Power Equipment is the exclusive and authorised Australian distributor of Yanmar Marine, Industrial Diesel Engines, Gori folding propellers and Mase generators. Incorporated on the 1st of October 1990, The Company now has a total of 44 employees, 31 at its Melbourne Head Office, five at the Perth Office and six at the Brisbane Office plus two sales representatives based in Sydney.

Yanmar was founded in Osaka in 1912 by Magokichi Yamaoka, a student of Rudolf Diesel, inventor of the diesel internal combustion engine. The company became well known in Japan for developing the first powered rice huller and began exporting kerosene engines in 1927. In 1930, Yanmar produced its first diesel engine (with an output of 5hp). Shortly after the war Yanmar began mass producing small diesel engines in 1947. The company quickly gained a reputation for exceptionally smooth, lightweight and quiet running engines, since then they have developed more energy-efficient and economic engines as we implement a constant process of research, development and innovation.

Currently the Yanmar organisation employs over 16,000 people in more than 130 countries worldwide, with the continuing design philosophy of "more power and less weight". Yanmar has been producing diesel engines since 1933, and today has manufactured over 15 million diesel engines ranging from 4.5 to 5,000 horsepower.

Through a combination of product excellence and a commitment to professionally servicing existing and prospective Yanmar customers, Power Equipment has continued to grow Yanmar's market share across all product segments.

Power equipment currently offers a wide range of Yanmar marine and diesel industrial engines as well as Gori folding propellers, Mase generators and genuine Yanmar quality spare parts.
Yanmar marine offers the most comprehensive range of marine diesel engines in the world with pleasure craft ratings from 9 to 900 hp and purpose built commercial engines from 13 to 1200 hp.
 
Yanmar industrial offers a broad range of diesel powered engines from 4.8 to 101 horse power and generator sets from 10 to 55 KVA.

Power equipment are also the exclusive distributors of the Gori  folding propeller and Mase marine generators ranging in size form 2.5 to 35 KVA.

The duration and conditions of your warranty will vary depending on the product you have brought. In most cases it will be a 2 year or 2000 hour extensive warranty, but some conditions do apply so check your warranty handbook or speak with one of our dealers.

How environmentally friendly are they?

Can I use bio diesel?

At this point of time Yanmar encourages the development of renewable fuels, however currently there is no government recognized standard for the production and use of bio diesel. And for this reason any damage caused by a non recommended or approved fuel would not be covered by warranty.

Why is diesel better than petrol? Will a diesel engine improve my fuel efficiency?
Diesel engines typically offer several inherent advantages over spark ignited petrol engines. These include: Diesel fuel is considered safer in that it is less volatile. Since it has a much higher flash-point, the risk of an explosion or fire is greatly reduced. Diesel engines have a much higher compression ratio than comparative petrol engines. As a result, they are built more ruggedly resulting in greater durability. Diesel engines are much more fuel-efficient. A savings of up to 40% less fuel consumption can be realized which would cut fuel costs heavily in this current environment.

What sort of oil and coolant do I use?

Yanmar has designed an oil to handle the extremes of Australia’s rugged climate. All yanmars products and accessories are specifically designed for Yanmar engines and built for optimum performance and durability. In choosing Yanmar’s proprietary brand of oils and coolant you can not only depend on premium engine performance, but also be confident in the engines longevity through reduced engine wear, scuffing and corrosion.
As well as the oil range Yanmar has developed a specialized long life organic coolant for their range of diesel engines which boasts up to a 3 year or 1000 hour life span it is suitable for all diesel engines.
